The Same 20 Questions

If you were an American wandering the streets of Cairo these days, you might be asked the following questions upon meeting Egyptians:

1. Where are you from?
2. What is your religion?
3. What is your name?
4. What do you think of Obama?
5. What do you think of Israel?
6. What do you think of Bush?
7. What do you think about the invasion of Iraq?
8. Can you teach me English?

    lol

Well I am Egyptian but I could never initiate conversations with foreigners on the street but I can imagine! Egyptians are very curious people and they never think that asking someone about their beliefs/faith is inappropriate.

  2. Ibn Yaaqub says:

    Ahmad,

Thanks so much for your comment. The intent behind my post was neither positive nor negative, just to give people an idea of what some of the conversations people are having here. By no means am I saying that it is wrong to ask people about their beliefs of faith, only that I think in this sense Egypt differs cultural than other countries. It is an observation only. You seem to be a person who would be great to engage with in a conversation. Ahlan wa Sahlan!

    which is identity_lost@hotmail.com..

    Ahlan Beek!
